Youth Central Live Chat is an instant messaging service where you can speak to one of our trained Youth Workers. They can help you navigate around the site, provide ideas for things to do whilst in lockdown and support you with any concerns or questions you may have. Our youth workers will try their best to provide you with the kind of support you would receive in your youth provision.
Please note: Youth Central is not a counselling service but we are happy to listen, advise and direct you to other services if necessary.
Live Chat is available between the hours of 4:00PM and 8.00PM Monday to Friday and is subject to availability. We will try our best to keep conversations to a maximum of 20 minutes so that other young people can fairly access the service. If you have a question outside of the time frame our get help page maybe can help, alternatively please email [email protected] and we will respond to your message as quickly as possible.
The live Chat service is overseen by youth workers who are passionate about supporting young people. Abusive or inappropriate behaviour will not be tolerated and our youth workers reserve the right to terminate a chat without prior warning if these rules are breached.
We are not a crisis service, if you have a medical emergency ring your GP (Doctors), NHS 111 or dial 999 for immediate help. If you would like to speak to someone for emotional support please contact Kooth or the Samaritans.
Chat conversations are confidential, prior to the connecting to a youth worker you will be asked for your name and age. Youth Central will not pass your information on to anyone else unless the information is relevent under the Prevention of Terrorism Act, in which case we will share information with the police.
If nobody is available to chat, you will have the option of sending us an email which will require you to provide us with an email address. All text conversations and emails are recorded for your safety and the safety of our youth workers.
