Are you interested in politics? Passionate about the environment?
This July, Barry Sheerman MP is running a summer school for young people who want to make a difference. This 5-day programme is ideal for any Year 11 Leavers who want find out more about what politics is, what it can achieve, and how they can get involved.
The workshops and sessions, featuring MPs, climate activists, journalists and businesspeople, will focus on the role of politics and campaigning in addressing the climate crisis – one of the biggest and most urgent challenges facing our world. The role young people have played in pushing climate change up the agenda is huge – and this week will be an opportunity to learn, debate and question what needs to happen next.
Participants will also have the chance to experience the work of an MP’s office and learn more about the job of representing Huddersfield residents in Westminster.
Who can apply
The summer school is aimed at Year 11-13 pupils. Priority will be given to those who live or go to school in the Huddersfield constituency.
You should be free for all five days of the programme, which will run from Monday 19th July to Friday 23rd July 2021, with a graduation on the final day.
The programme will be most likely be held virtually in order to comply with Covid-19 restrictions.
